Kickstart 2: An Amazing Day For Everyone Who Attended

Kickstart 2 was a huge success, with 25% more people than October joining us for a day of all things Amiga. Everyone I’ve spoken too so far had a great time, and we are well on our way towards another sell-out meet in June.

We’ve got a few pics below from the event – more can be found over on our Facebook group and our Discord channel. YouTube creator Chris Thomas, also known as Retronaut, paid us a visit and filmed the meet. His video is now on his channel and I encourage you to go and have a look (click below), like and subscribe.

Kickstart 3 ā€“ The Amiga BBQ Meet – June 2024

The annual barbecue is a Kickstart tradition (see above, where you can see a much slimmer/younger version of me at the grill and our Life President Rob Gilbert getting stuck into a burger back in 2000). We’ve picked a great date in June (moving to a Saturday to make it easier for people to stay over for the night, have a drink etc.) and we have some top-notch food lined up for the grill. I still have the apron; it will be making an appearance!

This will still be a regular meet in terms of format, but we are replacing the usual sandwich lunch with a longer, more leisurely lunchtime with hot BBQ food cooked out in the Village Hall garden. We’ll be doing good quality burgers, sausages and steaks, as well as vegetarian options, salad and other stuff. You are more than welcome to bring your own beer and/or wine, but please drink responsibly.

More details about the June meet to follow nearer the time, including guests and traders, but tickets are on sale now, please grab them while you can.

Quite a few people bought tickets for June on Sunday during the February meet, so at the time of writing we have just four tables left, as well as no-table tickets. Both ticket types give you full access to the day and the BBQ, but if you want to bring your Amiga, be quick and grab a table ticket to avoid disappointment.

Places to Stay for Kickstart 3

The nearest Premier Inn hotels with parking are Addlestone, Woking West and Cobham. The nearest Travelodges are Chertsey, Woking Central, Egham and Walton-on-Thames. We are also quite close to Heathrow Airport, so do also look at deals for airport hotels.

This Airbnb list ā€“ which now works – of nice, affordable places to stay nearby will also help, and Iā€™m adding to it on a regular basis as I find more reasonably priced places to stay.

Please contact us if you have any questions, otherwise we look forward to seeing you in June.
